Masters in Motion Graphic Design

Bau, School of Design Barcelona, Spain.
The program focused on creative direction, art direction, and technical mastery. All of this was done in partnership with design inspiration-theory powerhouse OFFF (which was being hosted in Barcelona at the time).

BFA in Film & Video

Columbia College Chicago, IL.
The program centered on technical mastery of film and video production, preprodution and postproduction with conceptual theory treated as a supplement. My concentration was in Documentary Film/Video.



Work Experience

VP, Marketing & Creative

Faulkner Media Group San Diego, CA 2010 to present.
I was given the opportunity to join FMG at the inception of the organization. My core role is defining/managing all of the creative efforts and marketing campaigns for FMG. Specific responsibilities include:

  • Managing the Creative Team.
  • Building a library of creative assets (primarily motion graphic videos) for resale within the financial services industry.
  • Leading all user-experience improvements and initiatives.
  • Defining the quality and creative direction of all sales collateral.
  • Managing the Marketing Team.
  • Optimizing the effectiveness of our outbound marketing (email campaigns, social media, etc.) and inbound marketing (training courses, blog, etc.) through analytics.
  • Contributing to and developing the overall strategy of the organization.

Director of User Experience/Creative

Liquidus Chicago, IL 2007 to 2010.
I joined Liquidus as they were expanding out of the startup phase of the business. I was hired as a motion graphic designer and later promoted to Director of the User Experience/Creative Department.Specific responsibilities included:

  • Managing the UX/Creative Department.
  • Generating broadcast video for national markets (commercials, promos, etc.)
  • Concepting the branding/image of OnDemand channels for Comcast and Time Warner.
  • Information architecture/design of web apps, digital products, and sites.

Director of Marketing & Design

North Clybourn Group Chicago, IL 2005 to 2007.
NCG is a large independent real estate agency in Chicago. I was asked to help them expand their marketing efforts and create all of their collateral. Specific responsibilities included:

  • Developing company branding.
  • Designing print, press, and web materials under deadline.

Freelance Motion Graphic Designer

Chicago, IL 2002 to 2005.
Most design houses at the time didn’t have someone on staff that could produce motion graphic video. For that reason, I was the motionographer hired gun for a number of advertising consulting firms around Chicago. Specific responsibilities included:

  • Creating motion graphic videos for a wide range of corporate clients.
  • Collaborating with the Creative Director at dozens of design houses.


Brandon has a unique combination of skills that make him a critical asset as a team leader. When he left Liquidus to move on to greener pastures in California, two people had to be hired to fill his role. Where will you find someone that is an expert in motion graphics and video advertising that also has deep knowledge of user experience? You probably won’t.
